Subversion in EBCDIC

Hello everyone,
My company needs to use Subversion on MVS. The main problem with this system is that it is using EBCDIC code page. I saw that the Subversion repository has got an "ebcdic" branch. Is this branch used for this purpose ? Has someone already tried to make a Subversion (at least a client) on MVS ?
