Please Help ! Error while checkingout on Windows - both command line and TortoiseSVN

Hi,

I have a problem checking out files on windows XP (Both command line
and tortoise SVN) but the checkout works just fine on Linux.

I tried specifying the absolute path instead of the relative path for
significantly longer path names to see if path length is the reason for
the problem as specified in the FAQ section.

http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#long-paths

but that doesn't seem to help either.

Tortoise reports the following error.

Error: REPORT request failed on '/svn/SWrepos/!svn/vcc/default'

Error: REPORT of '/svn/SWrepos/!svn/vcc/default': Could not read
response body: connection was closed by server

We increased the http-timeout to 240 seconds, to see if that works but
didn't. Nothing works except breaking up the checkout to smaller pieces
of the whole repository but this is only a temporary fix for us.

We are using svn 1.4.6 .

Please let me know if you had similar problems and possible solutions.

Thanks much!

Jkondabagil
