Follow on question, is there any kind of notation like:
[MySVNRepo:/MyMiscFoo/*/MyProject/devDirectories/database]

That says:
For the project MyMiscFoo, in repository MySVNRepo the authorization applies regardless of whether the directory structure following is in trunk or one of the branches....

There is a patch available there that you can try it out if you want. But I don't think it is available in the release code yet.
