SVN ignoring the change in a file

Hi everyone!

I wanted SVN to ignore a change in a particular file and not showing me
(or commiting) the file when I do a "svn status". I have tried to do a
"svn propset svn:ignore '<file name here i want to ignore>" . " but it
doesn't work. How can I do this? I also don't want the file to be
external, it must be in the repository but I just want SVN to ignore its
contents and changes.

Best regards,
