It's not fair to say it's not that demanding. I have 15 users who use it heavily, and consistently/constantly max it out, on direct connected GB, with 6 disks in raid 5. It's absolutely a function of how many files the average user uses, and how large they are. You can never know what usage will be like.

For what it's worth, the tradeoff between which protocol you use can sometimes make the difference. Http and https provide the most granular control and most secure authentication, but svnserve is definitely faster.
