Building a standalone / static version of svn

I am interested in building a completely static version of subversion [
actually only the "svn" binary ] which supports https for client side
activity.

If I use static versions of neon / serf / apr / apr-utils etc, during the
linking process the final binary excludes support for http / https.

Does this have something to do with openssl --

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Murli
