Shouldn't the svn client time-out if server is unreachable?

Hi,

Recently a user wrote to say that their SVN was broken, because their
svn client had hung.

The situation was really that our server machine was down.

Wouldn't it be better for the svn client to time out after a minute or so,
and tell the user that the server couldn't be contacted, or that it
wasn't responding? This way the user would have a clue where the problem
was.

Cheers!
