yes, it works via the IE. Any idea what kind of network problem may lead to this case?

svn list works with you url, maybe you have some kind of personal firewall
running that prevents svn from contacting servers in the (untrusted)
internet.
You can check that if you your browser (IE or Firefox) can connect to this
url. If it fails too, than you have a general network problem here.
