I hope you're using the current version of Subversion, which is
1.4.6, and to go along with it, you should be reading the 1.4 version
of the book:

It's not quite clear: do you already have email notifications set up?
If so, which script are you using to send out the emails, and what is
your question about the emails? If you don't have it set up yet, what
have you tried so far, and what information are you asking about
seeing in those emails?
