thank you for your reply Toby

it seems that eclipse it doesn't "appeal" the other developers, but -
after investigating a bit more - i think that both toad for oracle and
oracle sql developer are very close to be made compatible.

at least that's why the sql developer team is saying (the next version
should have subversion compatibility) and for what concerns toad, i
discovered that (quite surprisingly for me) the
microsoft-environment-bound version of the product (toad for sqlserver)
already has integration in place, thus i suspect that toad for oracle
will soon follow...
