I'm not particularly against it. I was also mis-construing your
original intent to be "update", which I suspect can be a bandwidth hog,
especially when lots of people are connected, when there is a large
update. Worse, I'm not sure what would happen with conflicts.

As for the equivalent of the "status -u", I wouldn't do it, but I'm not
against it being done. It would definitely be useful with respect to
lock status caching if it existed. ;)

You'd have to build a service (to be installed on each computer) to do
the polling, and then determine if you want to do that for all your
local workspaces, or just certain ones. Plausible, but I'm not sure the
cost-benefit analysis comes out favorable to it. I'm happy with the
developer updating when they realize it's been a while.
