Could you stop top posting. When inlining your comments *after* the

Wait a minute! You're using Linux? Then what's with the reference to
TortoiseSVN? Don't you think it's odd to compare behaviour of a
Windows based client with that of a *nix based one when trying to
diagnose an error which is generated by the Operating System?

IOW: you can't compare Windows errors with Linux errors. Yes, those
systems are not the same and each have their own peculiarities.
Subversion doesn't have a maximum filename length built in.

From the confusion above I now think it doesn't have to do with APR or
Subversion. When you do a comparison between 2 clients, next time,
please be sure to include *all* differences you introduced into the
equation!
