Thanks much for the suggestion. However, the defect referenced above
seems to be somewhat different behavior than what I was experiencing. It
looks to me like the above defect manifests itself as working fine
initially, and when the pooled LDAP connections later become stale users
are re-prompted for their passwords. In my case, I can recycle both my
LDAP server and Apache, and immdiately upon the first authentication
attempt I enter a username and password and when Apache first tries to
connect to ApacheDS I get the "Internal Server Error - The server
encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to
complete your request" response from Apache. This always happens the
very first time I'm prompted to authenticate and enter credentials. It
looks like I didn't include these details in my initial post--sorry if
that was misleading.
