"Safe" is a very subjective term. I have run into situations where
removing my working copy is not an option and hacking the entries file
is the only way to unstuck the metadata.

What can go wrong? Well you might put your working copy in an unusable
state - just back up the .svn dir before you go a-hacking.

Lastly - that article is out of date. The current entries file format
is much simpler than the old xml format.
