We use subversion for storing all shared documents in our projects. That
includes text, presentations, code and data files. We're using TortoiseSVN
clients with svn+ssh and run svnserve on Linux.

It is a very valuable tool for us!

Only disadvantage at the time is the missing feature for preserving
original time stamps on checkouts

but one has to note that this is not possible with cvs, either...
