No .so libraries created with successful build

Hi,
When I compile svn 1.4.5 on SUSE everything seems to go fine. However, I've
noticed that in the /usr/local/lib directory I don't have any of the .so
files. Is there a configuration setting that I'm missing for having these
created? Consequently the mod_dav_svn.so binary isn't being linked the
proper things. I think it is because of these .so files being missing.
