Help needed to solve "cannot set LC_ALL locale" error

Hi,
I'd need some help to make SVN work again after an upgrade to Mac OS X
10.5(leopard, with svn version
1.4.4 r25188). I now get this error message whenever I call svn:

svn: error: cannot set LC_ALL locale
svn: error: environment variable LANG is UTF-8
svn: error: please check that your locale name is correct

I searched through the archive and saw that the locale support
involves /usr/share/locale, under which the folder UTF-8 does not contain
much data (en_GB.UTF-8 contains more for instance).

Is there a way to have svn work with this LANG (which I guess could be set
by leopard itself), or should I set it to something different ?

thanks!

Thibaut
