Thanks Jurgen.

I have managed to get passed the error by updating ZLIB to version 1.2.3
and also by setting export CFLAGS="-L/usr/lib64 -fPIC"

The make and then the install appear to be ok

Im now getting a problem when starting apache

httpd: Syntax error on line 53 of /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_dav_svn.so into server:
libsvn_repos-1.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

Ive checked that /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_dav_svn.so exists and it
does ?

Stuart

Why don't you use the binaries from OpenSuse ?

My favorite mirror gwdg.de has

ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/Subversion/Apache_SLES_9

and Subversion et. al. for all recent SuSE distros.

Yours,

Jürgen
