It's a binary file (and Subversion knows that automatically) so I don't
think it's merging.

locate sez my client version is subversion-1.4.4.

Any tips how to pry the server version number out of
http://www.svnrepository.com/ ?

I'm not sure how checksums always work, but it seems that if I edit the
file, the checksum _should_ change, right?
