Not updating specific files

I've got a user who wants to update his working copy of one of our
repositories.

The problem is he doesn't want to get every file -- there's some huge
MP3's in the repository (recorded meetings) that are too big to be worth
downloading.

Is there anything he can do to update that repository, except for those
files?

They're scattered around multiple folders, and some of those folders
have files he does want to update, so just not updating certain folders
is not a solution. I guess what I'm looking for is a way to say "don't
update and mp3 files".
