That's what I've done, only I scripted the whole thing in one package
rather than multiple steps.

Indeed, I *am* implementing a specific workflow, but by wrapping it in a
single framework, I ensure that the workflow isn't ignored by the
"smart" or a step missed by the "stupid". And I just mentioned the
e-mail because you gain commit e-mails for free by using a framework to
structure your workflow like that.
