You are probably running old version of Subversion, if you running stock
svn installation with the 4.2 (not built from source ) ?
Had some of the same problem on old centos 4 (subversion 1.1) server
with some binary files. This was not a problem after upgrading to
Centos 5 and subversion 1.4 )
