mod_dav_svn.so

Hello,

after a successful build of subversion-1.4.4 --with-ssl
--with-apxs=/path/to/apxs I cannot start httpd-2.2.0. It craps out with

mod_dav_svn.so: undefined symbol: svn_fs_base__init

I think that this is a common problem, I've seen references to it in other
lists. The only suggestion to a solution that I've seen was to build
subversion --with-apxs (that does not apply to me here).

Can anyone here help me out with any pointers? I already googled it and its
variations,
