Yes "svnadmin verify" (or "svnadmin dump") reports the error. That's where
the checksum error message I posted originated.

We run these tools periodically -- which is how we discovered the problem --
but we don't run them after each commit.

Are you saying that "svnadmin verify" does not show you that the repository
is corrupt?

... or are you saying that regular usage of "svnadmin verify" was not part
of your regular repository administration procedure?

The former would be most worrisome indeed.
