Depends on what kind of file. If it's Word, I use the diff script
provided by TSVN. If it's plain text, svn diff on the command line or
TortoiseMerge. For a whole directory (haven't needed to do that in a
while), WinMerge. For PDFs, I'll open Acrobat and use "Compare
Documents"

It takes a long time to open the directory? Or the files? Define "a
long time." How many files?
