Did everyone checkout using an IP adress (like http://A.B.C.D/mrepo) or did
they use hostname. If the host's IP changed, wouldn't it be as simple as
editing the /etc/hosts (or the equivalent on Windows -- I don't know which
file that is)?

:-) i can very well imagine that... we had that once (albeit not an IP
change issue).
