Subersion: non standart layout for repository

We try to use Subversion with the following layout in repository:

/trunk
-----> /V1.0
-----> /V1.1
-----> /V2.x
/branches
-----> /V1.0_dev
-----> /V1.0_ft
-----> /V1.1_dev
-----> /V1.1_ft
-----> ...
/tags
-----> /V1.0
-----> /V1.0px
-----> /V1.1
-----> /V1.1py
-----> .....

We want to be able to merge form the V1.0_dev or V1.0_ft from "branches"
to V1.0 in "trunk".

I try some merge in this case with the SmartSVN graphical interface and
I get some troubles like this:
--> impossible to get the last revision in the branches/V1.0 directory
--> SmartSVN tel the merge is good but nothing is visible in the
"working copy"
--> and some others problems

Is this Subversion layout or usage supported ?
Are they risks with this usage ?
