svn hookscripts and EOL-replacement

We currently runned into a few problems with subversion hooks [pre-commit]
and EOL-issues.

We are parsing a checked in file (line by line) and see that there are
windows EOLs inside the file. As we are running our server on solaris we
were not expecting this particular EOL and our hook script failed.

If I set the property svn:eol-style to LF (for example), will the EOL be
replaced.

My Question:
What EOL will my hook script see? the clients EOL, or the replaced EOL?

What is the best solution for handling EOL-dependent data in hook scripts?
