"File too big" errors in a particular directory

From: Nil0Lab <nil0lab_at_of.net>

I've got a directory that gives me errors about a file in the
repository being too big anytime I try to do a checkout or an update
or a commit *in that directory or above*. Works OK in other
directories. Happens with https:// and with ssh+svn:// and with
file:// .

How do I repair that without damaging the repository further?

I think this started when I tried to commit a directory containing
several CD images.

Host is debian etch, svn is recent. More details are available if
they are relevant.

Thanks for any help.
