It seems you could write a script fairly easy to generate the
"wilecard" effect. Of course my solution is only preventive... don't
plan to have developers throw any "temporary" snapshots in the same
folder as actual releases. Instead have them use a more temporary
path (maybe even revolving subdir names such as the current year or
month). Certainly it's easier to handle whole paths that way.
