But it does change things. The issue here is not whether or not it
should change them. The issue is whether or not it should let the user
control how it changes them instead of blindly assuming that text
representations are always correct for the platform where the client
runs. That is, on input the user should be able to say "accept all
common representations for EOL" and on output to specify the EOL
representation he wants for the eventual use of the file even if that is
not native where the client runs.
