I found this a problem until I set up "bash completion". I can't remember where I found this originally, but this link looks helpful: <http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/tools/client-side/bash_completion>. I seem to remember that you need a sufficiently recent version of bash with the underlying bash mechanism enabled, but I can't remember the details now. (It's one of those things you set up once and then forget.)

By the way, I'm an unhappy Windoze user; but this approach works with Cygwin <http://www.cygwin.com> in addition to Linux.
