Unfortunately there are no SMART errors appearing, nor anything in the logs.
So we are still a little confused as to whats going on :)

Check your system logs for a failing hard drive, too. I've seen this kind
of error when svn tries to write to a bad (or a dubious) block on the disk.
If you have a way of interrogating the SMART data on the drive (such as with
smartd), that may give you some insight.

If you get a clean dump with no errors, I suggest saving it to somewhere
safe, just as protection.
