Thanks, I got this working. It's not as nice as CVS' aliases, but it
will get the job done I think.

There's just one catch - there are a handful of files in the topmost
directory. I can change that, so it's not a show-stopper, but I am
curious if there is any way to get that to work with this method? I
can't even check them out, as "svn co" requires a directory rather
than a file.
