Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am running Subversion 1.2.3 with a
FSFS repository:

   $ svn --version | head -n 2
   svn, version 1.2.3 (r15833)
      compiled Dec 4 2005, 03:38:36

.../svnroot$ cat lili.bkp/format
3

And the host is a dual Pentium-III 1Ghz runnning Linux Debian Etch,
kernel 2.6.16.

$ uname -a
Linux solar-4 2.6.16-2-686-smp #1 SMP Sat Jul 15 22:33:00 UTC 2006
i686 GNU/Linux
