Detailed information is already available in the book. Have you read
it? svnserve is described here:

On your clients (any OS), just download and compile Subversion. There
is no separate client or server Subversion source package; the single
source package always provides both client and server binaries.

Or, you could download a separate GUI client for your OS. There are
