Faulting appliation svn.exe

On one of my PCs where I've installed the 1.4.2 command line client I get
an error whenever I try to checkout from a https svn server running 1.3.
There are no errors if I try to checkout from a https svn server running
1.4.

The error window that comes up says "Subversion Client has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." At this
point I can decide to send the error report to Microsoft.

From Event Viewer the error reads:

Faulting application svn.exe, version 1.4.2.22196, faulting module
svn.exe, version 1.4.2.22196, fault address 0x0005507d.

This isn't happening on any other PC running the 1.4.2 command line
client. The PC with the problem is running Windows XP Professional Service
Pack 2.
