You don't have a 'commit failed' error here: you have no commit at all!

What I'm seeing is that there is more than one version (maybe even
several?) Subversion installed. Maybe your distribution already came
with Subversion installed?

try: 'locate libsvn_client.so' and see how many matches it finds in
installed locations...
