Restrict access to a project's history?

From: John Felczak <jfelczak_at_siderean.com>

Is there any way in Subversion to restrict access by certain users or groups to a project's history?

I'm in the process of preparing a migration from CVS to SVN with apache to give us directory-level access control, but we have one project that earlier in its history contained source code we do not want outside contractors to have access to.

That source code has since been moved to a separate project, but it could still be accessed by going back far enough in the project's history. So is there any way that certain users and groups can be allowed access to only the current revision or recent range of revisions for a particular project?
