Greg,

In CC it's all in the view so as long as the view storage is not on your
system, HDD, you still have them checked out. CC keeps track of what's
checked out, in what view, and by whom. It all boils down to a solid
backup system. As for perforce I am not much of an expert but it kind of
works like SVN, however you can query who's got what checked out.

A quick question? What happens with P4/CC if I checkout my files, then
my HDD goes AWOL (as happened to me a few months ago). How do I tell
them I've no longer got them checked out?
