The thread got broken with the new AW thread. I found the beginning of the
original thread where Marc reports:

> svn co -r HEAD https://localhost/rep
> svn: REPORT request failed on '/rep/!svn/vcc/default'
> svn: Can't find a temporary directory

So it's the client reporting this, hence the user checking out the WC who
lacks a temp directory.
