How are you connecting to svn?

Subject: problem: can update but not commit after svnadmin load

So, I loaded a dumpfile onto my svn server, then checked out onto a
remote Windows machine using TortoiseSVN. The checkout went fine. When

attempting to commit a changed or added file, however, I get the
following error:

Error: Can't create directory '/Volumes/xserve
raid/GEL/svn/magerko/docs/db/transactions/511-1.txn': Permission denied

I have tried ssh'ing into the server and using chmod to add write
permissions, but I am already the owner and have wrx permissions. What
am I missing here? The repo would be much more usable if I could commit

to it :)

Thanks.
