Now that you mention it, I have also noticed this, and also find it
annoying. When a coworker comes to my desk to talk to me about a
modification he's doing, it's natural for me to want to see what
changes he's made. From where I sit, a diff is a read-only operation,
so I should be able to perform it even on working copies where I have
no write access.
