Not installing Berkeley on the client but using Berkeley on the server

Our svn server has been set up on a Mac OS X server running 10.3.9 and is using Berkeley DB. I'm installing our first client on a 10.3.9 desktop and could not install Berkeley due to the abscence of libmm which I could also not find anywhere on the net so I could have Berkeley on the client. My question is if our repository is located on teh server does it matter if the clients use FSFS since all changes, commits, etc are being recorded and kept on the server?
