Operating System Flamewars

Ok, we're now up to over 30 messages over the past day in the series
of threads spawned by someone asking for help with their windows
subversion server. Some of those messages were actually helpful,
trying to solve the guy's problem. Most of them, however, have
degenerated into an argument about the suitability of various
operating systems for server work.

This is not an on-topic discussion for this mailing list. Some people
like windows, some people like unix, lots of people run Subversion on
both of them. If you can help solve this person's problem on their
platform of choice, please do so, otherwise, leave him alone. Trying
to convert someone to a new operating system is rarely the path of
least resistance to solving their problems.

Historically Subversion has gone to great lengths to be operating
system agnostic. If people want to run it on their platform, that's
their business, if you want to convert someone to your
religion^H^H^Hoperating system of choice, please find someplace else
to do it.

Thank you,

-garrett
