Patching old version

I have a patch that should be applied to an old version of my code in the
repository. I have a tag of the sources it should be applied to. What I
would like to do is to check out the sources from the tag, apply the
patch, and check in the sources to the branch when they should exist
(ignoring any changes in that branch since the tag was created, since they
are out of date if not included in the patch).

I looked at the svn switch command, but this doesn't seem to do what I
would like it to.

How does one accomplish this task?

Thank you,
