Dump / Restore question from Newbie

Hello All,

I have Subversion 1.3.0 up and running on Win XP and Apache 2.

        Working copy created.

For tutorial purposes, I dumped the revision 1 repository :
C:\>svnadmin dump C:\svnRepository\silverdarkroom >
c:\SVNDumpFiles\Base-repos-dumpfile-27March2006

then restored ( svn load ) the dump file to a new SVN repository:
C:\>svnadmin load C:\svnRepositoryRestored\silverdarkroom <
C:\SVNDumpFiles\Base-repos-dumpfile-27March2006

At this point, had this been an actual emergency, I'm not sure how
to proceed...

Do I copy c:\...Restored\silverdarkroom over the same
location as my live ( now presumably corrupt ) repository.

If so, I presume I need to clean it out first...

                or:

Do I leave it alone and point Apache at a the restored
path,

                or:

Do I copy c:\...restored\silverdarkroom to a new dir,
then point Apache to the new path...

What are best practices for dump / load ?

How often do SVN Admins dump the repository ?

        Thanks in Advance.

Scot L. Diddle,
