dumping a repo with only latest revisions

say im going to dump a BDB repo with around 2600 revision sets. i dump
2500-latest; then (maybe filter it and) load it into a new FSFS repo.

i know this seems obvious but i want to be sure:

What exactly do i lose by only dumping/filtering/loading those later
revisions into a new repo? revisions 1- 2499?

so i would only get the history starting from whatver date rev 2500 occured
on?

thx
