Invalid diff stream: insn 0 cannot be decoded

I have a repo that is reporting the following error from svnadmin verify:

  Invalid diff stream: insn 0 cannot be decoded

The environment is a gentoo system running on x86. Subversion version
1.2.3 running underneath Apache version 2.0.55.

The particular revision where the error is reported is a larger (8MB)
commit.

Any advise on tracking this down would be appreciated.
