Digital Asset Management

Hi,

We do not currently use subversion but have been watching the development
over the past several years. I would like to hear from anyone who has tried
using subversion for digital assert management (such as images, Maya scenes
and other binary data). With the introduction of reserved checkouts in v1.2
subversion would seem suited to managing digital assets like Maya Binary
files which can not be merged. Has anyone tried using subversion in such a
way ?

Also the subversion API should enable us to integrate the Digital Asset
Management into applications like Photoshop and Maya. Has anyone tried
writing subversion plugins which do this kind of thing ?

One feature I can not find is an equivalent to 'cvs admin -o' (outdate).
Binary files which change a lot could quickly eat up large amounts of disk
space. The ability to outdate old revisions which are no longer needed would
seem a necessity if subversion is to be used for Digital Assert Management.
Is this an issuse anyone else has found ?

Thanks for your time.

Richard Taylor.
